Rollback On DC 2018 Estate Tax Exemption

The District of Columbia has reduced its Estate Tax Exemption from $11,180,000 (same as to the Federal Estate Tax Exemption) to $5,600,000 for any decedent whose death occurred on or after January 1, 2018.

This means that although an estate may not need to file a Federal Estate Tax Return, it will need to file a DC Estate Tax Return if the value of the estate exceeds $5,600,000. Do be sure to speak with your professional advisors if you should have any questions.
